Lousy, rotten, wretched. An adjective that literally refers to an animal or person afflicted with mange (парша), a contagious skin disease. Metaphorically, it has become a very common, expressive word used to describe something of extremely poor quality, a miserable situation, or a despicable person (e.g., паршивая погода — “lousy weather”). It carries a strong tone of disgust and contempt, but it is entirely free of mat and clean enough for everyday speech.
Но Чертопханов не только не отвечал на его привет, а даже рассердился, так весь и вспыхнул вдруг: паршивый жид смеет сидеть на такой прекрасной лошади… какое неприличие!
