An ugly mug, a snout, a trap; a punchable face, a phizog, a map. Historically used to describe the face of an animal, it transitioned into colloquial speech as a highly insulting way to refer to a human face or the person themselves: 1. A derogatory term for an unattractive, coarse, or arrogant face (ну и мурло у этого вышибалы — “what an ugly mug that bouncer has”); 2. Used metonymically to describe a boorish, uncultured, or unpleasant individual (не хочу видеть это мурло здесь — “I don’t want to see that lowlife here”).
