Fake, counterfeit, garbage, hot air, total BS. Derived from criminal argot, where it originally referred to counterfeit money, fake jewelry, or a false promise/unpaid gambling debt. In everyday slang, it is a highly popular noun used to describe any poor-quality product, a knockoff, or complete nonsense spoken by someone (этот телефон — какое-то китайское фуфло — “this phone is some kind of Chinese garbage,” or всё, что он говорит — фуфло — “everything he says is total BS”).
— Что мы всякое фуфло пьём? — сказала Юля. — У меня день рожденья или нет? — И она достала начатую бутылку мартини. Налила всем. Сказала: — За вас! — и подняла стакан.
