A stoner, a pothead, a weedhead; a space cadet, a burnout. Derived from the verb курить (to smoke) with the prefix у- (denoting reaching a state of excess or completion). Standard slang term used across generations to describe someone who frequently smokes cannabis and is visibly high, sluggish, or altered because of it: 1. A person under the influence of marijuana, or a chronic smoker whose lifestyle revolves around cannabis (весь двор завален окурками, опять эти укурки сидели — “the whole yard is littered with cigarette butts, those stoners were hanging out here again”); 2. Used mockingly to describe someone acting completely spaced out, giggly, or foolish, even if they are sober (ты ведёшь себя как укурок — “you’re acting like a total space cadet”).
