Ride, wheels, whip. A highly popular, casual noun originally meaning a wheelbarrow or a handcart, which evolved to describe a motor vehicle. In everyday street slang and youth culture, it is the go-to term for a car, ranging from a beat-up old banger to a flashy luxury ride. Additionally, in urban jargon, it can refer to a gypsy cab or an unlicensed taxi hailed on the street (e.g., поймать тачку — “to hail a ride”).
Чаще всего желание слуги народа гонять на крутой тачке пересиливает совесть. Известный всем лексус с бубингом — отличный пример.
Most of the time, a public servant’s desire to drive a fancy car outweighs their conscience. The well-known Lexus with a flashing light is a perfect example.
