Literally meaning a female dog (bitch), it is heavily used as a sharp insult directed at a malicious, untrustworthy, or promiscuous woman, or as a general derogatory term for an untrustworthy man. However, it is just as frequently used as an aggressive, standalone exclamation to express intense anger, shock, or frustration (e.g., Сука, как больно! — “Shit, that hurts!”). While highly offensive, it sits in a linguistic grey zone just below the absolute taboo tier of core mat.
