Moron, idiot, half-wit. Derived from the prefix при- (near, leaning towards) and the root дурак (fool). Originally, in dialectal or older usage, it referred to someone who was slightly eccentric, simple-minded, or recovering from an illness (mental or physical). In modern Russian, it is a very common, moderately strong insult for a foolish, stupid, or reckless person whose actions lack common sense.
