пердеть

пердеть v ipf [perdet’]

To fart, to toot; to drone/buzz; to lag/glitch. Derived from the Proto-Slavic root *pьrděti, an onomatopoeic word imitating the sound. In everyday Russian, it is a highly common, crude, and informal verb for releasing gas. However, it has incredibly widespread figurative uses: it can mean to talk nonsense or complain weakly (пердеть в лужу — “to fart in a puddle”, meaning to make a loud but completely useless or embarrassing statement), to move/work very slowly (едва пердит — “barely farting”, said of a dying engine or an old computer), or to make a low, annoying, buzzing sound.

А мой пердит постоянно, особенно во сне, ужас просто, иногда такую газовую камеру под одеялом устраивает, мне приходится вставать из идти куда-нибудь ждать, когда проветрится.

Mine farts all the time, especially while sleeping, it’s just awful, sometimes he builds up such a gas chamber under the blanket that I have to get up and go somewhere else while I wait for it to air out.
