Tits, knockers; older sisters, godmothers (historical/regional). A highly expressive, casual noun that operates on entirely different historical and modern levels. In modern youth and internet slang, it is used as a playful, informal, and less aggressive alternative referring to a woman’s breasts (similar to “boobies” or “tits”). Historically, however, in North Russian and various Siberian dialects, лёлька or лялька was an affectionate term for a young child’s nurse, an older sister, or a godmother.
