To send by email. The phrase is built on a phonetic pun from the early days of the Russian internet: the English word “mail” sounds quite like the Russian word мыло (“soap”). Combined with the verb кинуть (“to throw, toss”), it became the ultimate casual shorthand for electronic communication.
