The Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) is facing a severe staffing shortage of 30%, and 40% of its employees leave before reaching retirement. One reason is that prison officers used to feel like masters of the inmates’ fate. Now, as FSIN personnel themselves reportedly say in internal discussions, today’s convicts can become tomorrow’s heroes of the “Special Military Operation”.
