Arse, ass, backside; deep trouble, mess. A highly popular, expressive noun that works on both a physical and a metaphorical level. Literally, it is a vulgar but non-profane term for the human buttocks (у неё красивая задница — “she has a nice arse”). Metaphorically, it is heavily used to describe a disastrous, chaotic situation, a dead end, or deep trouble, functioning exactly like the English “deep shit” or “mess” (мы в полной заднице — “we are in a complete mess”).
