Poof, faggot, queer. A common, derogatory slang noun used as a dismissive or insulting term for a gay man. It was formed by shortening the technical medical term гомосексуалист (“homosexual”) and adding the expressive masculine suffix -ик, which gives it a belittling, mocking undertone. While it is less aggressive than the harshest, most violent anti-gay slurs, it remains highly offensive and is used almost exclusively to demean or ridicule.
