Draft-snatching, press-ganging. Ukrainian/Russian sociopolitical neologism created during the Russian-Ukrainian war. Refers to the aggressive, sudden street tactics used by military enlistment officers from both sides who detain men in public spaces and force them into civilian minibuses for immediate conscription.

Another round of Russian shangaiing — this time in Rostov-on-Don. During raids targeting draft dodgers, police officers are forcing detainees to sign military contracts, threatening to send them on assault missions if they refuse.
