алкота

алкота f [alkota]

Alco-crowd, drunks, winos, boozers, the local drunks. Derived from the noun алкоголь (alcohol), combined with the collective pejorative suffix -ота (used to group individuals into a contemptible or low-class category, similar to гопота). In everyday street and youth slang, it is a highly common collective noun used to describe a group of chronic drinkers, heavy boozers, or sketchy, intoxicated people hanging out in public spaces (у подъезда опять собралась вся местная алкота — “all the local drunks gathered near the building entrance again”). It can also be used as a singular modifier for an individual who is a heavy drinker (он стал какой-то полной алкотой — “he turned into a complete wino”).

В Бийске опрокинулась фура с пивом. И пока водитель едет в реанимацию, местная алкота вовсю набивает халявным бухлом свои тачанки.

A lorry carrying beer overturned in Biysk. And while the driver is on his way to the emergency room, the local alcoholics are busy filling their rides with free booze.
